Tea Party vs Arizona Protests

April 28, 2010

I was troubled by the debate on Meagan Kelly live
with Mike Gallagher and Mark Levine.
This is not Mark Levin ...pretty much a polar opposite.
Nice guy though, and pleasant to listen to
even though we disagree.
Mark Levine wants to compare the protest in Arizona
with the tea party.

I suppose the interesting thing is that even though
I can't be unbiased I can at least play devil's advocate
with myself and see if I can see the other side.
Really couldn't in this case. Tortured is the way you
feel when a pundit is unmovable. You feel that there
is nothing you can do to convince them.

Mark Levine compares throwing bottles and rocks
as a moral equivalent to saying the F word to Barney
Frank. I understand that the progressives would call
them misguided, perhaps mistakenly redneck and lack
of complexity. But to try and paint them as racist
is so far reaching it seem to me that you must be
on a different planet, to think that. It is hard to
believe you don't see that you are discrediting
yourself to try and persuade with such a comparison.

The N word and spitting on a civil rights activist is
troubling but is certainly not the heart and soul of
the tea party. Most of us could weather an F word
and even spitting. It kinda comes with the territory,
when you have a strong political view, and your
your a public figure.
Wrong to spit?
Of course but do we need to
feel tea parties have no validation?
Just like we don't need to paint all immigration protesters
as violent.

Here is the discourse, tell me if you feel the same.
